12-05-2009 10:55 PM:It had the making of an upset disaster for Frank Edgar. The lightweight title contender was coming off a huge win over Sean Sherk and now he had to get fired up for unknown Matt Veach. Veach was exactly the kind of guy you don't want to face in a no-win situation. He's a big powerful lightweight with good wrestling. Edgar got slammed twice in the first and took some big lefts but he bounced back in the second to show his class. He caught Veach with a counter right hand that floored the H.I.T. Squad fighter. Edgar poured it on once on the ground. He got the mount where he quickly converted it to a submission scenario by taking Veach's back. It was fast. In a matter of seconds, Veach was tapping at 2:22 of the second giving Edgar his fourth straight UFC win.
Veach was a fill-in for Kurt Pellegrino, who pulled out of the fight with an injury.
