Actually, I found,(of course the hard way) that doing anything whilst inebriated is a real bad idea, regardless of how good you THINK you are. :)

Every now and then my instructor will start ranting in the middle of class about something that has nothing to do with what we're doing. Don't look bored when he does that.

Oh yeah? Hold my beer and watch this...

Do: Loosen up.

Paul that is true, true, true. I had one of my tae kwon do buds stay for hapkido and he told me after class it wasnt for him. I was trying to teach him the first three wrist technique, he was to scared and tense.

So my list of don'ts:
don't ask the question: Does this work? After told to work a combination.
don't start a fight
don't be a bully
you are never as good as you think you are so don't think you are great

do's:
be kind
be courteous
be helpful
breath when doing kicks and techniques, throws etc.
just realize that it hurts, it is supposed to
do know that everyone in class is feeling what you are so don't sweat the small stuff

NEVER wear your belt unless you are wearing gi pants.

Never call the 7th dan instructor solely by his last name.

NEVER talk about what happened at the party after the tournament to anyone who wasnt there.

Never brag.

Where is the fun in that? I often laugh while being the uke. It is because I enjoy the training, especially when it is something new.

Heck if it looks painful we tell the instructor we want to see it again... :p

However, DON'T talk too much. Stop the yacking and get to whacking!

Funny story.. I was taking a morning class in Pittsburgh, and there was only like.. 6 of us there. While Mr. White was out of the room doing something, we were left to practice something. I ended up, well.. Screwing off and chatting with my friend with whom I was partnered. Mr. White sneaks up behind us and says calmly, "So what are you two doing." We snap to attention and I say "Screwing off, Sir". He tilts his head, pauses.. "OK. Carry on." and walks off.

My last Sifu and currently ex-sifu

Do breath
Do keep coming here to train
Do teach my beginner students

Don't stop between moves
Don't teach this anywhere else
Don't show anybody this its a secret.

My old instructor after getting nailed in the face.......

No. No good. Never block with face!!!
