CMA in KC

Alex

Yellow Belt
Just testing the water, but, for a long time I have wanted to take Muay Thai and due to my living situation (Stuck in Kansas City for now!), that probably won't be happening anytime soon. Now I know CMA are generally a far stride from Thai Boxing, but it's really the only other martial arts I'd be interested in. So to be long winded : Is anyone here from KC or do they know of reputable gyms in the KC are and what do they offer?

Thanks in advance.

That link actually led me to these 3 schools. I don't know if anyone here has heard of these schools, or knows if they are pretty traditional (something I am looking for), or knows of thier reputation. Maybe some of the more knowledgable guys here can take a peak and tell me what you think. I'm definately new and honestly don't know what to be looking for.

I'm not personally familiar with any of these schools, but I pass the Midwest Chinese Martial Arts Center on the way home from work. They must be heavy into the tournament scene, because they have a LOT of trophies in the window. I've also seen them training outside in the parking lot on nice days. The KC Taichi school is in Raytown, which is quite a drive unless you live on the east side.

CoryKS, where and what do you train? Just out of curiousity - I know Johnson County pretty well - what other schools do you recommend to go to, or steer clear of?

I'm learning kenpo at AKKA in Olathe. I don't know anything about other schools in the area, but I've started noticing them more when I'm driving. Let us know if you do find a CMA school that you like.
