So, I woke up this morning to another video of my favorite HEMA fencer, Roland Warzecha, and thought that it might be something relevant to share here on the WC board:
Fencing, like Wing Chun, is very much concerned with chasing the target (and not the hands), while controlling the center. As such, I feel that there's a lot of insight to be gleamed from it.
Now, I'm sure that everyone has heard this before, and will say that they "know" to look at the man and not the hands, but knowing and doing are very different things; as are "doing most of the time" and "doing all of the time." I looked back on some footage of myself rolling with my Sifu, and sure enough found myself "chasing the hands with my eyes" often.
