Awful accident in NYC

A construction crane fell off the roof of a large (maybe 30 story) building, hit a building on the S side of the street, then broke up and absolutely crushed a 4 or 5 story residential building on the N side of the street.

At least 3 dead - unknown number of injured. Hopefully no one else was hurt.

What is going in with the construction companies working in NYC? There have been numerous issues with safety violations in the last year.

That is terrible.
It could be rushing through the job that causes these types of accidents. Competition is fierce in NYC for builders to get to the next bid.
