That ain't Judo. It's overly convoluted. It's not self defence if it's sparring. It's not self defence if you're relying on a gi. It's not Judo when you follow none of the tactics, strategies, or mechanics of Judo. It's not "real life" if it's in sparring.

Honestly? It's messy and very low return. You may have managed to stumble into it with one person once, but to then equate that to "self defence" and teach/demonstrate it as such is just completely out of whack with reality.

Out of curiousity, which organization awarded(or recognizes) your black belt in judo?

Please don't say that's BJJ... no one would leave their hand in the collar like that, particularly for long enough for you to do all of those things. If I'm the guy on top, I've got options, but none of those involves leaving that arm out. Thought I posted this yesterday, but I guess the internet ate my post. :)

Ras posted it in two places, Steve (hence my linking it in my post above, quoting my response in the other thread).
Ah. I'm a simple guy and easily confused.

A little nitpicky, but it doesn't look like this is a choke as much as a neck crank. Maybe a fine distinction, but they're not the same thing, and the results are very different, too. One will put someone to sleep and the other will break the neck if you're not careful.

I will say that the overhook from closed guard can be a very strong control. While I've never messed with the neck crank shown here, there are several solid techniques from there.
