Amazing Soviet ...err Russian Jet

Saw this browsing around... I'm not up on Russian Military jet fighters but know that this one is simply amazing as to what it can do. Nearly stopping in mid-air and turning around.
A hellva jet and a hellva pilot. Check it out...

I've seen this clip elsewhere. This came from an Air Show (I can't recall where), hence the reason for the colored smoke. You'll see near the end of the clip that the colored smoke is depleted. Awesome plane... one of these I would love to own!

Yup... pretty amazing indeed!

That's a Soviet Yakovlev or YAK-141... it was a supersonic VTOL aircraft that uses something called thrust vectoring to pull off those maneuvers.

Several of the earlier Sukhoi and Mikoyan aircraft produced by the Soviets also used VTOL or STOL technology... as does the F-22 "Raptor" produced by Lockheed Martin...

Truly amazing to watch in flight...
