So about 6 months ago I returned to judo after a 6 year lay off. I enjoy it alot and have recently become interested in becoming more competitive (Not for a career but just dedicated to compete for hobby) however I'm currently 19 and i asked a National judoka in my club who trains BJJ and he said that exploring at 19 after a 6 year lay off maybe a bit late for trying judo competitively since I would've missed my cadet phase (14-17) and most people my age are already established and that judo has a shallow competitive pool in terms of age where you need to build up a competitive record early on (essentially in the years i missed). But that BJJ has a deeper competitive pool and would better suit me with my current judo training and my motivation to compete. Not sure what I think about this but I'd like to get some perspective on whether this take is accurate
