What a difference thirty years can make in some respects and yet, in the end, talent remains ...

Here is Heart performing Barracuda live in 1977:

And here three decades later (2008) on American Idol:

I have to confess that young Fergie impressed me with her forward rolls whilst singing .

A better quality version of the 1977 performance:

And Ann Wilson still got it. I love that woman!
I absolutely loved her back in the day. I'll still stop what I'm doing if "Alone" comes on the radio. Girls has some pipes.

Never saw the '08 duo. I was never a fan of Fergie, but that was impressive.

:chuckles: I usually get a poke to behave from my missus whenever "Alone" is on.

Anne Sings: How do I get you alone?

I reply: Just ask ... :D

I've not this footage before - what ever happened to the days when bands could cut it live?

The audio quality from a hand-cam/iphone is hardly stellar but it's great to see these ladies still hitting the stage.

Such a shame that so many of the available videos from back in the day are marred by bad sound :(. But, as noted in the OP, talent remains apparent regardless of the media :D.

One of my favourites - I love the mix of layers and 'feel' in this composition

Heart has definitely shown what women can do when given the opportunity to do Rock and Roll. The sisters blew everyone away with their talent, song-writing and stage performances. Always was a big fan of theirs. Some of their lesser known work or I guess you could call them "B-sides" were very touching and moving pieces of work.
example: How Deep It Goes... for a long time it took me to figure out that it was a ballad to a soldier who came home from (a) war zone. Just beautiful.

In the quiet afternoon you left and went down into town
And I just watched the empty road behind you
Where the fog lies kissing the mountainside
You want to be sleeping, deep inside
Believing that the hungry world won't find you

Well, that's just fine, that's just fine
You've got to believe and I don't know, I don't know
What I believe anymore
Or whether to leave, or whether to stay
Or what I can say
To make you know
How deep it goes

Somebody turned on the dirty blues
I know you don't like the blues
Cause the words are always the same
And they kind of remind you
Somebody turned the blues on me
I don't like the blues cause I can't see
Through the tears that come and make it hard to find you

Come on down
Come on down
You've got to come lay down here and say those things
Those warm things, right here in my ear
The times that you had that water like wine
So clean and so fine to make me know how deep it goes
Well, that's just fine, that's just fine
You've got to believe and I don't know, I don't know
If I could leave anymore, even though there's a scar
Still fresh from the war, don't think about it no more
Letting new love flow
How deep it goes

Lordy it makes me feel old to realise that Ann is 60 and Nancy is 57! I still remember to this day seeing Ann's photo's on the cover of Little Queen or the inside of the Dreamboat Annie LP (appropriate title :D) and falling hopelessly into teenage crush with her :O.

A most interesting interview with them here:

First off ... thanks for the sound warning mate on the opening credits of that video... OWIE!
Second... you gotta thank your countrymen for being such a big influence upon us Yanks. They both credit Beatles, Elton and Zeppelin as major influences. I'm sure that there were dozens more of course in their own way here in the states, yet the mere mention of the Beatles, you can't help but shake your head and not be at all surprised. I'm guessing that the harmonies performed by John, Paul, George (and sometimes Ringo) influenced their singing style. Jimmy Page and his band definitely helped influenced their hard-edged sound. Elton (and Bernie Taupin), I'm guessing influenced their song-writing/story telling style.
Ann and Nancy benefited from a helluva band and they should be given due credit as well.
Roger Fisher - Lead guitar
Steve Fossen - Bass and percussion
John Hannah - Keyboards
Brian Johnstone - Drums

Found a higher quality version of Crazy on You - the poster did some work for this one it seems (or found someone who had done the work for him :D)

Another of my favourites, high quality live remastered version (tho' one of the few where I prefer the studio version):

A nice live version of "Crazy on You" - those flashy moves by Nancy at the start make me ashamed given that I'm a decade younger than her

And one that if anything I like even better for the interleaving of some Zep in the intro {"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is one of my favourite songs of all time} :D

A quite little chortle to myself as the intro to this played out ... quite clear to those listening that somewhere nearby the real deal was going down :)

I've not seen this documentary before - most interesting:
